Hao Wang was born in 1991 in China and began his musical studies at the age of ten, studying classical guitar with Haitao Lu.  He showed early promise as a musician and in 2003 won second prize at the Youth International Guitar Competition in Greece.

Between 2006 and 2009, Hao studied at Wuhan High School of Music where he gave a number of recitals in the Wuhan Qintai Grand Theatre.  These award-winning performances helped to shape and direct his early musical career.  Hao’s development as a musician also involved vocal studies (Baritone) at the College of Music in Wuhan.  His performances in master classes and high school performance classes received much critical acclaim.

Hao is currently a first year MMus student at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) where he studies with Craig Ogden.  He has received a scholarship from Dr Sheila Hollingshead Fox which is based on the Ian Spencer Fox Guitar Bursary.  As Chinese classical guitarist and singer, Hao is working as a specialist guitar teacher in the School of Strings.

Hao is looking forward to collaborating and performing with musicians in the Manchester area.  He also wants to develop links between the RNCM and music schools in China.  He will build on guitar pedagogy by inviting Tutors from the RNCM to teach and perform in music centres in China, all of which will facilitate a greater understanding of the Classical guitar in his country.
